Public holidays and closures
On Christmas Day (December 25), New Year's Day (January 1), Epiphany (January 6) and Saint Stephen (December 26), the basilica opens late at 9:00 and closes early at 14:00. Mass schedules differ.
Last entry and clearance
Last entry is 30 minutes before closing time. Visitors are politely asked to leave 15 minutes before close. Audio guides and tower elevators stop earlier.

Earliest slot (9:00 to 10:00) and last slot (one hour before close) are the least crowded. Mid-morning between 11:00 and 13:00 is the busiest window all year round.
