Hidden fees and gotchas
The advertised price is what you pay on the official basilica site. Aggregators add a small fee but include flexibility:
- Official sagradafamilia.org: face value, no booking fee, non-refundable.
- Viator: +5 to 10% over face value, free 24-hour cancellation, audio app included.
- GetYourGuide: +6 to 12% over face value, free 24-hour cancellation, mobile ticket.
- Street touts: 60 euros+ for what is a regular ticket. Avoid.
Discounts and free entry
Real ways to pay less than 26 euros:
- Children under 11: free admission.
- Students under 30 with ID: 21 euros (15% off).
- Seniors over 65: 21 euros.
- Disabled visitors and a companion: free entry.
- Sunday international mass at 9:00: free (mass attendees only, no wandering).
The centenary surcharge in 2026
The basilica has confirmed a temporary centenary surcharge of 2 to 5 euros from May to December 2026. The surcharge funds the topping-out of the Tower of Jesus Christ and special exhibitions. Tickets bought before May 2026 lock in the lower price.
Worth it: which ticket gives best value
For most first-time visitors, the Top View at 40 euros is the best value: you cover the basilica, a guided tour, the audio app, and the once-in-a-trip tower elevator. The basic at 26 euros is best only for second visits.
For 2 to 3 night stays, the multi-Gaudi pass at 99 euros saves 22 euros vs separate tickets and includes Park Guell, Casa Batllo and Casa Mila.
What most blogs miss
The 2026 centenary surcharge is announced but the start date keeps slipping. As of April 2026 the surcharge applies from June 1, not May 1 as originally announced. If your visit is in May 2026, you still pay the 2025 price. Always check the basilica official news page two weeks before booking.
