Option 1: International Sunday mass (free)
Every Sunday at 9:00 the basilica hosts an international mass open to anyone. The mass lasts an hour and is celebrated in Catalan with simultaneous translation in English, Spanish, French, Italian and German.
Rules: enter via Carrer de la Marina door 30 minutes before. Photography is forbidden during mass. After the mass you must leave via the same door (you cannot wander the basilica or visit the towers).
Option 2: Children under 11 (free)
Children under 11 always enter free at Sagrada Familia regardless of season or day. Each child needs an accompanying paying adult. No proof of age required for visibly young children, but bring a passport for older 10-year-olds.
Option 3: Disabled visitors (free)
Visitors with a disability certificate (Spanish or any EU country) plus one companion enter free. Bring the official disability card. Reservations still required online (selecting "free entry").
Option 4: Tour bus included (paid via bus pass)
The Barcelona Bus Turistic 1-day pass at 33 euros does not include Sagrada Familia entry. Despite what some sites claim, the basilica is never bundled with bus passes.
Why no general free days
Unlike the Picasso Museum (free Sunday after 16:00) or Museu Frederic Mares (free first Sunday of the month), the Sagrada Familia is fully self-funded by ticket sales. The basilica needs about 30 million euros per year to continue construction. Free days would jeopardize the 2026 finish.

What most blogs miss
Some travel sites claim "Sundays after 16:00 are free at Sagrada Familia". This is wrong: it confuses Sagrada Familia with the Picasso Museum. The only real free option at Sagrada Familia is the 9:00 Sunday mass. Do not turn up at 16:30 expecting free entry.
