Why 2026 matters

2026 marks the centenary of Antoni Gaudi's death (10 June 1926). Architect Jordi Faulí timed the topping-out of the Tower of Jesus Christ to honor the anniversary.

What will be complete

Structurally: all 18 towers and the central nave. The 7-metre cross on the Tower of Jesus Christ. New illumination of the central spire visible from across Barcelona.

What is still pending

The Glory facade with its main entrance steps. Decorative work on apostle pinnacles. The official sacristy. These continue to 2030 to 2034.

Centenary events

Special masses on June 10, 2026. A new exhibition in the crypt museum. Daily light projections on the Tower of Jesus Christ. Limited centenary tickets bundle a guided tour.

Visitor changes

Expect higher demand year round, especially June 2026. Book tickets 60 days in advance. Tower access may be temporarily restricted around the topping-out ceremony.
